Summary/Intro

The Windows registry could at time contain entries that could cause errors. With time come registry errors. Registry errors could build up in time. As time goes by, the registry would grow. And with each adding and removing of programs, entries are added and erased. But sometimes, these entries would not be deleted with the program it is associated with. These will become invalid entries. Invalid entries could cause the registry to be corrupted, fragmented and full of errors. This article will focus on the common Windows registry errors that could infect your computer. With better knowledge of the errors, you can best know how to handle them.

First off the list are missing, bad or broken applications link, paths or shortcuts. These could be a result of improper install or uninstall of programs. Sometimes installation process of software could be interrupted and this could lead to having invalid entry in the computer’s Windows system registry. But most of the time, missing links, paths or shortcuts are caused by the deletion of the program without properly uninstalling it first. Also broken paths could sometimes be the effect of malwares in your system. Be sure to be on the look out for viruses and spywares.

The second type of errors would be from unwanted browser objects. Browser objects such as Internet cache, cookies, history files, typed URLs and visited URLs could sometimes contain malicious information that could cause errors. Viruses are also the number one cause for having unwanted browser objects in your system.

Start menu items could sometimes become obsolete. And some items could be unused. Even though these items are no more wanted, its registry entries are still active. Though the programs are dormant, its registry entries are still called upon by the computer. Unwanted entries use up valuable resources thus making the computer run slower than if use to. Missing and corrupt application files also tend to cause registry errors. Just like obsolete start menu items, the registry entries of missing program files waste resources. Such wastage could have been used on other processes thus speeding up the computer speed.

Active X components could also be corrupted. When this happens, even its registry entries would be damaged. Thus errors would surface. Once you solve the Active X problems, your computer would run faster, processes would be in an instant and the performance is optimized. Your computer would once again enjoy its full potential.

These are the registry errors most common in all computer, may it be for personal or for business use. Some of the problems that would surface would include missing or invalid keys in the system registry. When your computer often crashes or it is slower than its normal pace, chances are errors in your Windows registry are the cause. Registry errors should be taken seriously. Common problems that could arise include .exe file errors, general protection fault errors, Internet Explorer errors, invalid file errors, Windows explorer errors, dll error messages, Outlook errors, ActiveX errors and svchost errors.
